Legend: The being who would become known as the Dark Requiem was born 4000 years ago in the area now known as Greece. His parents were part of a strange pre-Greek cult whose origins are as old as the universe itself. When he came of age, he was fed a strange mixture of nectar and herbs - a mixture known to the Greeks who came later as 'ambrosia'. The ambrosia altered the chemical state of his brain, closing some areas while opening others. From that point on, everything was changed for him. His conscious focus was no longer primarily in this world but in the Dreamscape, the spectral world of all possibility from which all consciousness is. To him, he is awake only when he sleeps, and he sleeps when he is awake. His physical prowess increased, he became agile as the most gracious animals, and the aging process of his body increasingly slowed. Though he may seem immortal, he is not. His body simply ages infinitely slowly.

As the ages progressed, he became identified as a god. The Mycenaean Greeks, who came into Greece and gradually usurped the existing culture, called him Apellan, the patron of the adolescent, a god eternally on the threshold of manhood, but unable to cross. The Minoans, who lived on Crete and were conquered eventually by the Mycenaean Greeks, associated him with their god Paiean, the god of herbs and medicine, a god with the power to free himself and others from disease. The eastern kingdoms, such as Troy and Lycia, with whom the Mycenaean Greeks had contact through trade and war, identified him with the god Appaliunas, the "father of light" who used the glimmering crescent moon as his bow, and as the Semitic protector god, who used his bow and arrows to fire plague and pestilence on all who threatened the civilization he protected.

In the 12th century BC, the civilizations in the Mediterranean underwent catastrophic collapse, beginning with the fall of Troy and the Hittite empire and continuing to the system collapse in Greece and a downward spiral in Egypt. This collapse was initiated by the man himself. After years of mastering the art of manipulating the subsconscious mind, he used the Dreamscape to take all aspects of the various but similar gods into himself and use the power to subconsciously lead the civilzations into war and conflict, inititating a mass collapse of Atlantean proportions. His reason for this was simple. He saw this gift which his family's cult bestowed on him as a curse. As the Dreamscape and the afterlife are one and the same, all consciousness travels to this place in the dreaming state, but is inevitably drawn back to the body until the moment when the consciouness plans to no longer inhabit it. With no energy to sustain it, the body soon dies. Due to the specific nature of his altered focus, he is allowed to traverse this plane more freely than a normal human would and uses it as his primary focus. However, because his body's aging process has slowed, the moment of death has been infinitely postponed. He is saddled with a body which is so impressive that it will not let him fully cross over. In order to ensure that humanity never know of this knowledge, he destroyed civilization and initiated a Dark Age. At the end of this Dark Age, when reality and mythology merged, the Greeks vaguely recollected the machinations of their adolescent god, for they originally knew enough of his presence to know that it was his doing. As language changed after the Dark Age, his name was now "Apollon", which they conveniently explained as meaning "the Destroyer".

Centuries later, with the dawn of philosophy and Christianity and the rise of Roman civilization, men started to wonder on the afterlife and again verged on reaching the truth. Soon after, Rome fell to the less civilized Gothic tribes and Europe was plunged into a Dark Age. This was not a simple coincidence; this was again the work of the immortal fanatic. But the naievete of this medieval period did provide the catalysts for the being known today. It was in this period that the prayers of the Christian Mass of the Dead were written. He became obsessed with their beauty and brilliance, the terror of judgment combined with the cries for mercy. He also became enraged that these wondrous songs would never be sung for him. And so he took on the name by which he is now known: the Dark Requiem. The plea of mercy falls upon deaf ears. Then, calling upon the ancient astronomy which connected the god to the stars, he called upon the fires of the hottest stars of the "merciful" heaven to be his psychic weapon - the zodiacal light of his blue fire.

In the present era, he gathered his Apollonian powers and 4000 years of experience of the Dreamscape to again destroy civilization with an iron-blue intention. The effort culminated in his laying waste to Hell with the fire of a thousand giant stars and the destruction of a large corporate headquarters, a symbol of the material corruption that disgusted him. Since his physical defeat at the hands of the Specter Woven of Shadows at the Temple Pantheon in Rome, as well as his metaphysical defeat at the hands of Nobody within his massive ruined cathedral in the Dreamscape, he was thought to have been silenced forever...until his emergence in Creature Championship Wrestling at Salvation 2003.

The Destroyer has returned, a reincarnated soul. But what has changed? And who will face the music now?
